Wusthof's Pull Apart Shears would be my one "desert island" necessity: I use them for snipping fresh herbs such as mint, basil and rosemary, snipping macerated fruit into smaller pieces, cutting parchment paper to fit pans, making quick work of coarsely chopping pecans and walnuts, and chopping vegetables such as asparagus into uniform lengths. They slide apart for easy washing in the dishwasher, and mine have stayed super-sharp for over two years despite daily abuse. Made in Germany, these should last you for many years of kitchen prep.

I almost didn't order these when one review pointed out that they were made in China, but I'm glad I did because all the reviews gave them good marks on performance.When they arrived, I looked all over the box and the shears and was unable to find ANY country of origin; only long-term use will demonstrate their quality.

We've wanted one of these kitchen shears for a long time and I finally broke down and bought one for my wife on Mother's Day this year.Needless to say, she keeps thanking me for such a useful gift.Guess I did okay this time!

Wonderful kitchen shears.They are very sharp and tight and, importantly, come apart with a simple twist for complete cleaning.

I have arthritis in my hands and cutting through chickens bones was completely impossible for me.Tried soooo many kitchen shears supposedly designed to do this daunting job. Perhaps so, but those others required hand strength which those of us with arthritis simply do not possess.Then I got this.WOW!It's such a snap to cut through chicken bones!
The fact they come apart easily for thorough cleaning is a major plus.(You want to get anything that comes in contact with chicken really, really clean to avoid contamination with deadly salmonella).
And they have stayed sharp for us for many moons now, without sharpening.
Buy this!Even if you aren't incapacitated. You will not regret it!
