Griffin Technology iMic USB External Sound Card

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - If your laptop output sound is broken...
This is a good fix. My macbook's headphone/speaker output jack went kaput after three years of use! Talk about annoying. There's no way to fix it unless you get another logicboard since it's soldered to that - and a logic board costs a LOT of money. Now that I got this iMic soundcard, I can plug both headphones and speakers into it, tap it into the USB, and it works as if the output jack was okay!

Totally satisfied with purchased. Took one star off for price - yikes! Almost fifty bucks. But it's worth it after trying to do without ouput sound for months.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - If it works it's great, if not you're not going to get much help
Potentially a useful product, but if you have trouble don't hold your breath expecting any kind of support from Griffin.
I bought this device to playback iTunes music playlists thru a PA system from my HP laptop.I'm running Windows Vista Business on the machine and when I play anything thru the iMic with it I get random popping noises that sound almost like the scratches on an old record, but are definitely digital in nature (No, the music I am playing did NOT come from records). Strangely enough, it does not do this on a Dell Laptop also running Vista, so I have to guess that its some issue with the USB drivers and that particular computer's USB port in Vista."Guess" is the key word here.Grifin's "support" has been useless, but I did finally read somewhere else that the device is "not compatible with Windows Vista".So, I guess I have a nice little paperweight unless I want to buy another laptop or switch back to Windows XP in the hopes that it will cure the problem.Neither one of those are really acceptable solutions, so maybe its time to just put this thing up for sale.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Griffin iMic -- Easy to work with
I had been looking every where for a solution for copying my albums into a digital format. I have a Mac, so I just plugged this into the turntable and into the USB port. I followed the instructions and was recording within a few minutes. The results are fantastic. I already had a good turntable so this was the best solution! I can even record my guitar straight into my computer with the iMic.
