This item is very easy to use.I was surprised at being able to get results with so little blood!

My son was diagnosed type 1 at age 23 months.The endo sent us home with a meter that required an enormous amount of blood.I saw Freestyle Flash advertised and decided to give it a try.The sample of blood needed for this meter is incredibly tiny!No more screaming (by my child) while we're trying to gethuge amounts of blood out of my little guy's tiny fingers.I've seen some people complain (on other sites) the meter takes 7 seconds for a reading.(like that's a long time??) I don't care that it takes 7 seconds to get the results, I do care my son likes it much better than the first meter!The only reason this meter didn't get 5 stars is because of the nature of the product ~ I don't think it can ever truly be totally "painless".

Does TheraSense FreeStyle Blood Glucose Monitoring System come with some test strips?I had to rate this system otherwise I can't ask the question (I haven't tried this system yet).

Having recently been diagnosed with T2 Diabetes, I opted to get this system over the one my wife has mainly because of size.The real surprize was not only the size of the glucometer but the size of the test amount of blood; no need to waste a test strip for "calibration"; the bells & whistles that come on this little bugger!If you don't think a little thing like the size of the test sample make a huge difference, you haven't tried this thing.With my wife's system, it takes FIVE times the size of the sample the Flash requires.That means a relatively deep and painful stick... I know.I tried her's out.She tried the Flash and will be switching over at the beginning of next month.

The actual test time takes a tad longer than my wife's current system.Two seconds more.Big deal!Gimme painless anyday.
