The focus of this book is about short term survival. It does focus on living off the land, the mental aspects, tools and survival tactics, but mostly in the light of surviving an accident or disaster when help is on the way. Conditioning yourself to live long enough for help to arrive.
It made me realize how bad things would be if help wasn't on the way and how ill prepared we are in the event of massive disaster or something changing the entire planet.

- Another reprint... Same errors as before.
Wiseman's venerable SAS Survival Handbook has been around for over 20 years at this point & keeps getting reprinted regularly. Yet every time I look at a copy, it seems to be an exact reprint of the original - same diagrams, same chapters, and (sadly) the same errors.
Wiseman tries to write a comprehensive, world-wide, all-season survival manual & he's successful to a degree. Realistically, given the difficulty of effectively covering all the topics adequately, we should stop trying to buy/write/publish ... Read More

Excellent survival information.Perfect for the summer home in the woods or on your next hiking trip...

This is a good survival guide. It has all the basics and much more. It shows you everything from making shoes out of tires to how to cook shark. It gives you many illustrated examples of animals, plants, food,knots, poisions, shelters, signaling, weapons, first aid, and navigation. This book is a must for any survival kit.
