Product Description:
The astonishing, uplifting story of a real-life Indiana Jones and his humanitarian campaign to use education to combat terrorism in the Taliban’s backyard

Anyone who despairs of the individual’s power to change lives has to read the story ofGreg Mortenson, a homeless mountaineer who, following a 1993 climb of Pakistan’s treacherous K2, was inspired by a chance encounter with impoverished mountain villagers and promised to build them a school. Over the next decade he built fifty-five schools—especially for girls—that offer a balanced education in one of the most isolated and dangerous regions on earth. As it chronicles Mortenson’s quest, which has brought him into conflict with both enraged Islamists and uncomprehending Americans, Three Cups of Tea combines adventure with a celebration of the humanitarian spirit.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Every american needs to read this book!
What a great book! What a great man! What a great mission! Mortenson has found the key to fighting the Taliban. It's a shame we can't get the american government to realize this is where our money should be spent if we expect to make any progress in the war on terror. This is an eye opening book that everyone should read. Amazing is the only word that can describe the things that Mortenson has accomplished! One man truly can make a difference.

A great story, pretty well written. I enjoyed this and was inspired by Dr. Greg's work. This is the first book I've felt strongly enough about to recommend.

My purchase of 4 copies of the book was "voting with my wallet".A friend loaned me the book and upon finishing it I immediately ordered 4 copies as gifts. It is an inspiring story to say the least. It is the story of a life whose course changed because of an idea.It was a thrill to read and a thrill to think about.Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . .
