- This edition vs. 1st edition, a comparison, FYI
I wrote this for the Unabridged edition, but I thought it would be useful to post it here as well:
A few notes on the differences between the unabridged "1400 Objects" edition of Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever, published 1963-1979 vs. the later 1980- "Revised" version. (Note not all post 1980 printings include the word revised on the cover, but they are all the revised edition.)

- Great vocabulary builder.
I have bought this book over and over again as a gift for everyone I know that is having a baby. My own kids absolutely loved it. It is wonderful for having converstions with little ones about the pictures and building vocabulary. No child should miss out on it!

The book was advartised to be in excellent condition however the binding in the book is torn almost halfway thruogh

I love these books by Richard Scarry.I bought them when my children were small, and I bought this one for my 5 month old grandson.Even though he doesn't understand the words and pictures, he loves the colors, and there is so much to look at that they really entertain him.The other day he was kind of cranky so I sat in the rocker with him and read two of the books.He was asleep before I finished the second book, but I kept reading because I wanted to see what happened.You can't go wrong with ... My 17month daughter loves this book! I was into Richard Scarry books growing up and really wanted my baby to like it. Initially I was afraid the illustrations would be too busy for her, but that is clearly not the case. This book is one of three books (the others are big book of animals and book of words) she brings to me just about every thirty minutes, which is driving me a little crazy but I'll just have to deal with it. She really gets into the scenes especially scenes of the circus, zoo, farm, grocery, ... Read More
