His sister, Kate, meanwhile, has enlisted the aid of two of England’s most brilliant “scientific detectives,” Lord Hawke and Commander Hobbes, to thwart the invading Nazis. This book, by far, is the best children's book my 9 year old son and I have ever read.He thinks it is better than Halo and wants to keep the book to pass down to his own children!We are really enjoying this beautifully written book.I heard about it from News Commentator, Glenn Beck.He definately nailed it, when he recommended this wonderful story!

I liked this book a lot. It was a mixture of some of my favorite kinds of books. The characters were well done and the plot was exciting. There were a lot of twists and turns and holding my breath.
It was a bit bloodier than I thought it would be. I wouldn't read it to young children, probably 12 on up. It deals with the reality of war - it's not pleasant but the author doesn't dwell on it and make it disgusting. There is also a really bad guy and he does mean things and causes pain to many ... I bought this because it was rated as a best seller, and because it incorporated historical fiction into the story, but it didn't hold my 11 yr old's interest into the 3rd chapter.
