If it were possible to offer a review without giving any stars, I would.Unfortunately, I can't.Now, I've read every single book in Kenyon's Were-series, and she's one of my favorite authors...but come on!Stryker is the bad guy.He's bitter and evil.In the book, he explains how he won't kill children...but if his victim is over 18 years old, then it's okay.He justifies by saying that if he doesn't take people's souls, then he would die.And he's only like thousands of years old.Yeah, ... I read several reviews of this book before picking it up myself and based on those I wasn't looking forward to reading it, but I'm not one to leave out any book in a series. So I have to say I was wonderfully surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It's a fantastic look into what drives Stryker and his unusual moral code. I've read all the books in order and I didn't think this one was great but it wasn't that bad either.It was just okay.But the book did seemed rushed.The book is about Stryker and Zephyra.I did not like Zephyra's (ex-wife) and Medea's (daughter) treatment of Jared.She was crueler than Stryker, which turned me off right away.But I guess she has to show some cruelness if she is going to sit on the throne with Stryker.Stryker's ... I spent about a half hour in the middle of the night crackin' up from all of the reviews I've read on this book. I'd pretty much decided to end my Dark Hunter association with Acheron and after reading all of this I'm sure that I made the right decision. Maybe, like Feehan, her series will pick up again later on down the line and I'll come back to it - but for now I'll get my DH jollies from the reviews.
