When the home of Alex Cross's oldest friend, Ellie Cox, is turned into the worst murder scene Alex has ever seen, the destruction leads him to believe that he's chasing a horrible new breed of killer. As Alex and his girlfriend, Brianna Stone, become entangled in the deadly Nigerian underworld of Washington D.C., what they discover is shocking: a stunningly organized gang of lethal teenagers headed by a powerful, diabolical man--the African warlord known as the Tiger. Just when the detectives think they're closing in on the elusive murderer, the Tiger disappears into thin air. Tracking him to Africa, Alex knows that he must follow. Alone.
From the author Time magazine has called "the man who can't miss," CROSS COUNTRY is the most heart-stopping, speed-charged, electrifying Alex Cross thriller yet.

- Such a disappointment!!
I have always enjoyed the Alex Cross series. I looked forward to reading "Cross Country" while I was recovering from an injury. This book is one of the most disapointing that I have ever read. What happrened to the tough, analytical cop that I have come to expect? The guy in this book was a whiner who went through the entire book putting himself and his family into unbelievably stupid and dangerous situations. What happened to the intelligent Doctor Cross that could always delve into the twisted ... Read More

- Is this really an Alex Cross book???
The title implies what I was thinking while reading this book because as one reviewer pointed out this book comes off as a political statement. I am usually the one stupid-loyal fan who will always come up to bat for a my favorite book series but I just can't defend this one....Basically it seems that Mr. Patterson wanted to write a book about the crimes that are occuring in Africa and decided to put Alex Cross in as an after thought. Hopefully the next book will see Alex Cross in his rightful place ... Read More

- Possibly the worst half of book I ever read.
I have read and enjoyed a few Patterson books in the past, notably Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider; so when I heard this installment of the Alex Cross series advertised on the radio I bought a copy with anxious anticipation.
My work and school schedule slowed down enough to finally allow me to settle in and enjoy a good book.Too bad what I got instead was the complete opposite. There a several reasons I didn't like this book. The main reason being it wasn't well written; the chapters ... Read More

- A Big Disappointment
I have always enjoyed the Alex Cross series of thrillers, but this poorly-written novel has no resemblance to them. Alex Cross has always solved cases with cool intelligence. As an example, look at "Kiss the Girls." But this tale has Alex Cross charging off to Africa like someone in a cheap movie. There, he acts like a bull in a china shop. We have tiresome violence on top of violence and a catalog of foolish mistakes by Cross. I was soon bored (for the first time) by an Alex Cross novel and nearly did not finish ... Read More
