I find this to be an extremely well written book. For me it has been an eye opener that has already impacted the way I view and create my layouts,and I haven't even finished reading it yet! Robin takes you through her four basic principles (Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity), drills them through repetition, and offers ample examples. An excellent book to read through as well as to have on hand for reference. Wondering if your flyer or business card has that punch you really wanted it to give? Pick this up and consider the basic elements of design.

Examples of working and non-working design are aplenty throughout the book, making it easy for even the novice to 'see' how one method can change layout to such a significant degree.

The many examples of basic designs made it much easier for me to design a brochure for my church. Although most word processing software does have the ability to create a brochure, I prefer to create my own. Using the tips from this book I felt like I created a very professional brochure.
