Amazon.com Review:
Change can be a blessing or a curse, depending on yourperspective. The message of Who Moved My Cheese? is that allcan come to see it as a blessing, if they understand the nature ofcheese and the role it plays in their lives. Who Moved MyCheese? is a parable that takes place in a maze. Four beings livein that maze: Sniff and Scurry are mice--nonanalytical andnonjudgmental, they just want cheese and are willing to do whatever ittakes to get it. Hem and Haw are "littlepeople," mouse-size humanswho have an entirely different relationship with cheese. It's not justsustenance to them; it's their self-image. Their lives and beliefsystems are built around the cheese they've found. Most of us readingthe story will see the cheese as something related to ourlivelihoods--our jobs, our career paths, the industries we workin--although it can stand for anything, from health torelationships. The point of the story is that we have to be alert tochanges in the cheese, and be prepared to go running off in search ofnew sources of cheese when the cheese we have runs out.

Dr. Johnson, coauthor of The One MinuteManager and many other books, presents this parable tobusiness, church groups, schools, military organizations--anyplacewhere you find people who may fear or resist change. And although moreanalytical and skeptical readers may find the tale a little toosimplistic, its beauty is that it sums up all natural history in just94 pages: Things change. They always have changed and always willchange. And while there's no single way to deal with change, theconsequence of pretending change won't happen is always the same: Thecheese runs out. --Lou Schuler

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - A Complete Waste of Time and Money
Despite the myriad awful reviews that this book has already received, I still feel compelled to write another because this book deserves about a zillion more. The truly ridiculous nature of this fairy story for the corporate drone simply cannot be overstated. As others have pointed out, the gist of the "lesson" is that change happens and you can either deal with it or die.Huh.No one needs to spend twenty dollars to learn that.Which brings me to my next criticism: the price.

This book has not a crumb of worth. Not a molecule or an atom. Not an iota.Words, of which this book has very few, fail me.It is not worth an analysis. It is not worth finding a meaning, allegorical or otherwise. It is not worth reading the cover, which is actually the best part of the book because it makes you wonder what's in it.It is not worth even writing this review, except as a warning beacon to other ships at sea.It is waste of ink, paper, glue and mass.If it is combustible, it ... In reading over the reviews- it is my opinion that whether or not you like this book will have more to with the conditions under which it was read. If you're struggling with change in your organization and your less-than-suave boss forced this book on you to help you "deal effectively"- then yes, you're probably going to feel insulted. But don't blame the book- you're insulted that your boss used the book as a bandaid instead of hearing you out.(You would feel no better about your situation if ... Read More

To prepare us for our merger with a much larger and FAR less efficient and FAR less customer-centered IT division our company bought a batch of these and gave them to us.
Let me save you some time:If your company screws up or screws you over and you care about your job just shut up and go along with it.
There.I saved you some money. No thanks necessary.
However, I was able to sell this and another similar book (unopened and also handed to us by my company) to Powell's ... Read More
