- Why do I keep buying these books?
I read the first 12 Anita Blake books back to back in a period of about a week and a half. The first four were golden. Anita was sassy, assertive and didn't take any BS off of anyone. After that she devolved into a woman who has become whiny, clueless and worst of all -- boring. Why do I keep buying them? Hope springs eternal, I guess. The first four were SO good I keep hoping I'll see a glimmer of that savvy and sassy gun totin' vampire slayer. What I get instead is a whining, indecisive ninny who ... Read More

- Not much there!
Kind of whacky...cancer and sex, vampires and celeb's, with a little who populated the entire town with the same look...Leaves you looking for something with a little substance. Like the TV Guide? I know she can do better...

- You give her an inch
Ever since Cerulean Sins I have vowed to never spend another dollar on a LKH book.I keep reading the books with the hope that the author I once loved will snap out of her funk and remember that she's a sci/fi fantasy writer and NOT a romance author.
The Harlequin gave me such hope. There were real minutes of the "old" Anita there.Beyond the bad sex there were her quick wit and humor coming back to overshadow her jaded rants and tiring complaining.I found myself really enjoying ... Read More

- Bloody horrible
I have watched LKH's books devolve into nothing but endless whining and endless orgasms. But Blood Noir started out silly and ended up ridiculous. The trip to Jason's hometown to prove to his Father he's heterosexual is a bit like "he that protests too much." The endless ruminating in the hotel after Anita wakes up from a 2 day sexual marathon had me skipping entire pages. Just when I thought Anita was going to hurry up and take a freaking shower, some new and even more ridiculous fight over Anita came ... Read More
