The Lost Fleet: Valiant (Unabridged) A great book to read just not long enough.
Rating:
- Continuation of a steady and successful plot
Book four takes off where book three left the reader. The Lost Fleet had just left a tolling battle in the Lakota system through a jump to the Ixion system, only to decide to surprise the Syndic battle group as they pull a u-turn and return to the Lakota system. More than half the novel is dedicated to the battle and aftermath in the Lakota system. Thence on, the Fleet passes through the pirate mining system Branwyn, then to the supposedly abandoned system of Wendig and finally the Fleet ends up ... Read More

- FAR beyond repetitive....definitely unnecessary AND tiresome
This writer has milked all the 'hot-button' issues that could possibly be raised within this plot. It appears obvious to me that with little surety about where it will go, he is just pumping out 'filler'; just enough for one more volume.

- Getting Repititous
I enjoyed the first book in the series very much. The second one was okay, but since then the story has become quite repetitious. Move to a star system, have a battle, survive against all odds, move to the next star systems, talk about relationships, Geary experiences self-doubt, repeat. The story could be more interesting--it should have moved along much farther. One or two star system battles would have been sufficient. That said, I'll probably continue to the next book, but I hope that one wraps up ... Read More

- Dragging...get on with it!!!
I gave this book 2 stars because of the previous 3 books which have been entertaining and well written. This book has several main flaws:
1) Campbell is a military writer and should stick with it.His love triangle is beyond annoying and is distracting from the story.I had to flip through about 25% of the book because of this awful, awful, section
2) Nothing new... .each of the previous book seem to be moving the story along but this one has a case of Jordanitis (the late ... Read More
