Heres one good reason for staying home from school...
Something strange is happening at Tyler High. The laid-back principal has become unusually strict. The janitors no longer work nights because of what they hear. The students are frightened by what they see. And things are happening on school grounds that defy rational explanation. But there is an explanation. Its just nothing that anyone can begin to believeor hope to survive.

- Terror is Back in Session
When it comes to horror fiction there are two particular names that always jump out: Stephen King and Dean Koontz (though Koontz considers himself more of a suspense writer than anything). It sometimes can feel like the horror genre is having a shortage of authors. It's not, though, and Bentley Little shows there's more out there that can scare you than just Stephen King and Dean Koontz.Unfortunately, while The Academy isn't really a bad book, it doesn't reach nearly as high as it could... or ... - Sad!
I enjoyed some of Little's other books but this one was way off. First, he went overboard with situations way too soon in the story. The situations he created were too outlandish to even consider taking them seriously enough to be scary, even compared to his other books. Also, I grew tired of his political posturing whether you agree or not. I don't want a poly sci lecture in my fiction novels, I want an interesting story. This wasn't it.

- And I thought my highschool was scary!
Strange things are going on at Tyler High School. Recently converted to a charter school, Tyler High is undergoing a lot of changes. The principal, normally a very laid back and kind woman, has turned into a strict dictator-like leader. She has created a group of "Tyler Scouts" that parade around the school, empowering them to enforce rules and regulations with students AND teachers. Students and teachers that opposed the contract have gone missing. Ghostly images of children are seen playing on the ... Read More

- Worth the wait
Like any good book junkie, I waited impatiently for the release of Bentley Little's most recent book, "The Academy" for months. He is my favorite horror author, and in the top 5 across the board. If you haven't read his stuff, you are seriously missing out. He is unapoligetically graphic and fantastically horrible. You may find yourself looking away from time to time, desperately trying to dislodge an unwitting image from your head jell-o, but you will always look back. It is impossible not to when you ... - too much politics
I have been a fan of Mr. Little for many years. But, like many other authors who have lost my loyalty, he has decided to use his escapist "horror" novels to push his personal political views. For example, I am pro-life so when a mystery book goes on and on about pro-choice being the ONLY viewpoint, I lose the atmosphere of the mystery and put the book down in disgust and never buy that author's work again. Even when I agree with an author's personal bias, like Dean Koontz, I stop reading because I don't ... Read More
