- I've been cured for 3 years on Dr. Scala's plan!
I need to start off my review by saying that I've been plagued with chronic ulcerative colitis for seven years. My gastroenterologist had placed me on Remicaid, which eventually created scarring on my liver. Another medication I was placed on gave me pancreatitis. Yet, the straw that broke MY back -aside from the many "accidents" I experienced in public (i.e. losing control of my bowel movements at the local playground), was when this gastro suggested that I remove my colon. Rating:
- Excellent Resource
This book is a great guide for people with a variety of digestive disorders - and perhaps even for those with other auto-immune illnesses. It contains clear, well-reasoned, thoroughly researched and documented nutrition advice. Also, it's a diet that I could live with (unlike many others!). The author is not selling any products of his own, which enhances his credibility. The only drawback is that he doesn't include any recipes; wish he'd write a cookbook or add some recipes to his next revision.

- Worth reading
This book provided me with information and insight into issues related to my disease that no doctor has been able to provide in the 9 years since my diagnosis. Although I have yet to put the actual diet piece into practice, the information I am learning is so important and really helping me to feel like there are other solutions to my disease than medications.

I bought this for my son who was recently diagnosed with Cohrones Disease.,He said the book has been very helpful

- Just OK
This book is mostly a review of literature and interviews conducted by the writer who sees to have written many other diet books for chronic illnesses. Did not like its contents much.
