- Unless you enjoy reading about excessive spanking & humiliation, don't bother
I really expected more from this book based on the positive reviews I read. I am very open minded when it comes sexuality, but what I found in this book here was more humilation and spanking than anything else.
As stated by other reviewers, some of what is written as punishment would indeed injure, maim or kill a person. Not to mention the techniques used to attract flies and other insects to a person's nether regions.... ugh!

I have read many of Anne Rice's novels.They are fairly similar in execution until these.Anne writes under 2 other names, Anne Roqueleire and A.N. Rampling.Belinda and Exit to Eden are 2 of her novels that deal with unconventional sex.They were also good.

I love this book. It's definably a different version of sleeping Beauty. It keeps you turning the pages with every new event and has a erotic twist of ahh at every turn. This book is definitely not for people faint of heart or prudish.
Rating: - Prepare your Psyche
The first in the trilogy will without doubt change your mind and erase anything you ever were read at bedtime as a child. Brilliantly written! Who knew Anne Rice had it in her. It makes much sense to me. If this story did in fact take place in reality, I believe this things would have taken place. Enjoy this book with an open mind. Beautifully portrayed. I look forward to the next two! *smile*
