Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good material for the CCNA exam.
I just passed my CCNA exam and I must say it is a good feeling.I purchased this material about a month ago and read the book from front to back, day in and day out.It is a much easier/comfortable read than other material that I previously used. The material is well organized and the topics flow into one another pretty smoothly.I recommend this book as well as the CCNA Virtual Lab 2.0.The two go hand and hand in allowing you to apply the concepts that you learn (i.e. configurations). I hope ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - For over 10 years, this book has been useful
I've been teaching CCNA classes since the late 1990's and the Lammle books have always been the "go to" resource for students. They continue to improve as the curriculum and testing objectives change - so each edition is a must-have for those seeking initial certification as well as the re-certification.

Tools such as tests, flash cards, and audio/video are an important add-on to the text.

For those serious about certification:
1) take the sample test
2) identify ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best of the Rest
I have read both books (Cisco press) and this book by far this the best.Information is clear and makes sense.Cisco press is a lot like MS press, boring, dry and not to the point.Chapter 3 is the best on subnetting that I have found.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Topic oriented - just the way I like it.
I find myself often looking through this fine book for CCNA topics to review and re-learn. They are always there and always completely covered. Perhaps it is just my style but I can not imagine reading any text on CCNA from first page to last. There are many core concepts in CCNA land and only Todd's books and guides let you arrive safely from so many different jumping off points. Every topic relates to others in such a way that I could read his books, by topics, from back to front and not get lost.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not a beginner's book and makes too many assumptions
Haev you ever started a project with enthusiam and good intentions, only to lose interest halfway through your project? This is exactly what happened when Lammle authored this book. He does a really good job of providing detailed explanations for the first few chapters, then the book just falls apart at the seams. Beginning in Chapter 4 (The Cisco IOS) the author starts carelessly throwing out terms like Slot, Port, Module, CSU/DSU, DCE, clocking...etc without ever explaining what they mean and assuming ...
