Amazon.com Review:
Pete Egoscue learned a lot about pain when, as a Marine officer, he was wounded in Vietnam. He segued from patient to physical therapist, and now runs a famous clinic in San Diego, where he claims he's helped 95 percent of his patients cure chronic pain--including Jack Nicklaus and Charles Barkley, whose athletic careers he helped prolong. At the heart of his program are stretches and motion exercises to restore proper function to muscles and joints. His methods are often surprising and counterintuitive. For example, for foot pain, he suggests a series of hip exercises. In fact, this is one of the most startling books you'll read about the human organism. Egoscue has strong opinions about how modern life is changing the way our bodies function, reducing the tasks we must perform and thus reducing the functional range of motion of our muscles and joints. Fortunately, he offers movement exercises to restore what nature meant us to have.

- First thing to help my Patellofemoral Pain (Runner's knee)
I have been struggling with Runner's knee (patellofemoral pain syndrome) for the past 4 months. 6 doctors and 2 PTs told me, well, it's tough, you probably won't ever really get better even though I have NEVER had any knee issues prior to 4 months ago. A friend recommended this book and I have been doing the e-cises for 3 weeks. I am proud to say that I have reduced the knee pain by at least 90% and each day it feels like an improvement. I am RELIGIOUS about performing the e-cises every day and believe ... Read More

- Bottom Line:It works
As a practitioner of Acupuncture, and as a patient who has experienced Low Back Pain I feel I am uniquely qualified to say Pete Egoscues system really works.I have used it successfully myself in the treatment of my own low back pain, and I have used it successfully many times with patients experiencing All sorts of musculoskeletal pain. The system Pete has come up with works very effectively but only if a patient does the exercises consistently over the course of a few weeks to a month. So therein lies ... - Egoscue Drek
This book is filled with a whole lot of unsubstantiated, unresearched and unsupported hype - unless you consider the authors own anectodes, half-baked theories and personal opinions to be valid. Some of the information in the book is true enough, namely, that being too sedentary can cause problems. But the author makes the claim that pretty much all muscoloskeletal issues are caused by lack of movement, (even, paradoxically enough, the sports injuries of professional athletes)and that further, his "Method", ... - Tried and proven
It's been over a decade since I bought my first copy of "Pain Free".I tend to be skeptical of extravagant claims like "pain free", but since my (highly effective) chiropractor strongly recommended it, I finally overcame my reluctance and have been grateful ever since that I did.Once I learned that sticking with the program (there is no free lunch) rather than quitting once my pain subsided, I have, indeed been nearly pain free for many years.Between us, my son, daughter-in-law, and I have used this book ...
