Product Description:
From One of the Most Brilliant Minds of Our Time
Comes a Book that Clarifies His Most Important Ideas
Stephen Hawking’s worldwide bestseller, A Brief History of Time, remains one of the landmark volumes in scientific writing of our time. But for years readers have asked for a more accessible formulation of its key concepts—the nature of space and time, the role of God in creation, and the history and future of the universe.
Professor Hawking’s response is this new work that will guide nonscientists everywhere in the ongoing search for the tantalizing secrets at the heart of time and space.…
Although “briefer,” this book is much more than a mere explanation of Hawking’s earlier work. A Briefer History of Time both clarifies and expands on the great subjects of the original, and records the latest developments in the field—from string theory to the search for a unified theory of all the forces of physics. Thirty-seven full-color illustrations enhance the text and make A Briefer History of Time an exhilarating and must-have addition in its own right to the great literature of science and ideas.

- Helpful explanation of the latest developments in physics
Stephen explains how the early scientists such as Aristotle, Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Newton and Einstein saw the Earth and time.It is an interesting read full of facts and theory about the gravitational forces as well as quantum mechanics and string theory.Questions about God appear throughout but of course there are no definitive answers.
Many different possibilities are discussed as to how we view time - and creation. The Big Bang and alternate universes is explored. One ... Read More

- Very poorly edited (Kindle Ed.)
The Kindle Edition of this book has been very poorly edited, it is filled with typos and poorly formatted image captions (the captions split across pages).I wouldn't recommend the Kindle Edition of the book at its current price ($12.60 at the time of this review).

- Fantastic read
Having just finished the book, I can definitely recommend it. If you're at all interested in the state of modern science, it's an excellent primer on the topic. My only (minor) complaint is that there are parts of the book that appear to leave out appropriate depth for the sake of brevity. Keeping the book short is good, but there were a few times when I found myself really wanting more in-depth information but it wasn't there. But that's really a minor point for an otherwise excellent book.

- Stephen Hawkins A briefer History of Time.
I knew Stephen Hawkins from his scientific reputation, a physicist of international renown, who prevailed over serious illness most of his life.
This did nor inhibit him from exercising his brilliant mind to the full.
I was NOT disappointed by his latest book, an up-to-date version of his much earlier treatise " A Brief History of Time." A succinct, easy to understand book on a very difficult subject.

- The Best Physics Book I Have Ever Read.
Like many people who have come to know Steve Hawking I have little to no actual academic training in physics but have found the subject quite interesting my entire life. I first read the original printing of A Brief History of Space and Time as a child and was immediately hooked on the subject. Since then I have read the rest of Dr. Hawking's works in addition to a number of others and while some may be more controversial or startling I have found few who are both as informative and well written as ...
