This grandfather of all people-skills books was firstpublished in 1937. It was an overnight hit, eventually selling 15million copies. How to Win Friends and Influence People is justas useful today as it was when it was first published, because DaleCarnegie had an understanding of human nature that will never beoutdated. Financial success, Carnegie believed, is due 15 percent toprofessional knowledge and 85 percent to "the ability to expressideas, to assume leadership, and to arouse enthusiasm amongpeople." He teaches these skills through underlying principles ofdealing with people so that they feel important and appreciated. Healso emphasizes fundamental techniques for handling people withoutmaking them feel manipulated. Carnegie says you can make someone wantto do what you want them to by seeing the situation from the otherperson's point of view and "arousing in the other person an eagerwant." You learn how to make people like you, win people over toyour way of thinking, and change people without causing offense orarousing resentment. I read this book in college and loved it so much then and wanted to read it now again in my 'old age' (63) and find it is just as wonderful! I recommend it to everyone!

How can Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends & Influence People" not be a five star rating? This book is a new revelation every time I read it. I don't know how many times that is now, but I'm sure I will be reading it again.
