Product Description:
This best-selling resource provides a general overview and basic information for all adult intensive care units. The material is presented in a brief and quick-access format which allows for topic and exam review. It provides enough detailed and specific information to address most all questions and problems that arise in the ICU. Emphasis on fundamental principles in the text should prove useful for patient care outside the ICU as well. New chapters in this edition include hyperthermia and hypothermia syndromes; infection control in the ICU; and severe airflow obstruction. Sections have been reorganized and consolidated when appropriate to reinforce concepts. Purchase of The ICU Book, Third Edition gives you free access to a Website featuring links from references to PubMed, updated regularly; and a directory of Websites handpicked by Dr. Marino.

- Great book
This is a very helpful book when working in the ICU. It goes over many basics. The only chapter that isn't too well explained is the mechanical ventilation. Other than that, good topics and broad range of knowledge.
Rating:
- Great book for intensivists
A very nice book especially for those intending to do fellowships in ICU like critical care surgeons.
Rating:
- Great text!
Dr. Marini's colloquial style and strong evidence base make this a great review for houestaff starting in the ICU.A must read!
Rating:
- ICU Book - a 4th yr med. student's review
Great book -really helped clarify the big topics during my SICU rotation - wound infection, respiratory/ventilator basics, endocrine emergencies and ICU disturbances. I felt the illustrations could have been better, but the text was very readable. Good book for medical students and probably even interns/early residents. Beyond, you might want something more detailed.
