Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Fluffy little god made in our imagae
From a strictly literary perspective this book is fifth-grade level. That is one of the reasons this book is so attractive to modern culture. The author's points are packaged as if they were in a coloring book using drab vocabulary. Not much subtlety in this work.

From the Christian theological perspective this book is a slick Wall Street version of God.God is packaged in a manner that is so post-modern and so very 21st century. If marketing executives were to gather around a table ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Severely disappointing
I too purchased this book after hearing accolades and was assured it was not Christian hype. I was lied to. The horror of the child's kidnapping and murder were not resolved, and the interjection of the trinity made it too complex. The statement about revenge being a stranglehold on the person you hate was inept in that revenge never hurts the hated, only the hater, which is very well analogized in Carrie Fisher's "revenge is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die." Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The Shack is a very interesting book
I thought The Shack was an excellent book. This book will make a person think about their own relationship with God. This book made me feel like God was talking to me too. It made me want to improve my relationship with God. I believe this book would be a book to give to someone who doesn't have a close relationship with God. The way William Young describes images makes the reader feel like they are right there will the main charater in the shack. I had trouble putting the book down-I wanted to read as ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A Different Take on Christianity
I found The Shack to be interesting and intriguing. I've never read anything so light-hearted and yet sincere about a man's personal relationship with God, Christ and the Holy Spirit. It caused me to reflect on my own relationship with the Trinity.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - my 2 cents
The Shack was recommended by several trusted friends. I purchase books for people in jails/prisons as well other people who have extra time on their hands. For a year this has been my main purchase because of the responses I've received--I have not read the book, being fully engaged in a research project.
