- One of the greatest stories in comics
I was turned on to Y The Last Man at work when I saw someone with the comic.I asked him what it was about and he told me.Being a fan of post-apocolyptica, I asked if it was any good.He looked straight into my eyes and said, "I don't read crap, man."If you looked at the guy, a stereotypical comic book/gaming nerd, you could tell he knew his stuff.
I went home and bought all the available graphic novels, 6 at the time.I have no regrets.I have since lent these novels to about ... Read More

- Pirates and Mystics
Ah, yes, the sexist military policies of the past centuries have placed the world in a precarious position now that 2+ years of passed since the plague that wiped out 99.99% of the male population. We saw this earlier in some of the previous books but in this collected set of 5 of the series comics we see in on the oceans as Yorick, 355, and Dr. Mann take what they think is a cruise ship to Japan in the hopes of finding Ampersand. They never make it there as the ship they are on is attacked by the ... - Weakest Since "One Small Step," But Still Some of the Best Stuff Around
Brian K. Vaughan continues to churn out awesome volume after awesome volume of "Y: The Last Man."This trade paperback consists of the four issue "Girl on Girl" story arc (that features Yorick, 355, and Dr. Mann aboard a ship that is in big time conflict with a submarine that is a bit too close for comfort) and the one-shot "Boy Loses Girl," which gives us an update on Beth's situation.
Every since the Safeword arc, "Y: The Last Man" has pretty much been solid gold through and through. ... Read More
Rating:
- A little slow
Volume 6 of Y The Last Man lagged a little bit more than its predecessors. This slow pacing was not as entertaining. Also, this volume kind of went on sub-plots which really didn't add to much to the main story. Not that it was bad or anything, it's just that I could have gone without reading this volume.
Rating:
- Still good, but something of a pause in the overall story
The fifth collection in the series, RING OF TRUTH, saw Yorick, 355, Dr. Mann, and Ampersand complete their transcontinental journey.GIRL ON GIRL sees them crossing the Pacific on the trail of Ampersand's abductor, who has taken him to Japan. It isn't that the stories here are bad; they simply aren't as good as what came before or what would come after.
And yes, there is girl on girl action.Although there had been some extremely repressed sexual tension between Yorick and Agent 355 ... Read More
