Product Description:
Why do we suffer? Is there a purpose to our pain? Noting that human beings have wrestled with such questions for thousands of years, Phillip Moffitt has found answers for his own life in Buddhist philosophy and meditation. Reflecting on his own journey from Esquire magazine editor-in-chief to Buddhist meditation teacher, Moffitt provides a fresh perspective on the Buddha's ancient wisdom, showing how to move from suffering to new awareness and unanticipated joy.
In this deeply spiritual book that is sure to become a Buddhist classic, Moffitt explores the twelve insights that underlie the Buddha's core teaching--the Four Noble Truths--and uses these often neglected ideas to guide readers to a more meaningful relationship to suffering. Moffitt write: "These twelve insights teach you to dance with both the joy and pain, finding peace in a balanced mind and calm spirit. As the most specific, practical life instructions I have ever encountered, they serve as an invaluable tool for anyone who seeks a life filled with meaning and well-being." Practicing these twelve insights, as Moffitt suggests, will help readers experience life's difficulties without being filled with stress and anguish, and they will enhance their moments of happiness.
With engaging writing and a strong message of self-empowerment, Dancing with Life offers a prescriptive path for finding joy and peace that will appeal to meditation students and readers of "Dharma Wisdom," Moffitt's column in Yoga Journal, as well as anyone searching for a more authentic life.

- Best book on Buddhist psychology
Phillip Moffitt has written a masterpiece of the Dharma.Written in a highly readable style with excellent examples from ordinary people lives this book shines as one of the best books I have ever read on Buddhist psychology. This is a book that seems like an easy read at first, but deserves many re readings before it can be thoroughly digested. I have recommended this book to my meditation group and plan to use it as a class text for a graduate level psychology class.I recommend this book without ... Read More

Dancing with Life. This book can make a difference!
Although a student of yoga for many years, I had never explored Buddhist philosophy and meditation. Phillip Moffitt came to Seattle and talked about his book Dancing with Life. I bought the book with a great deal of curiosity, and it quite literally blew me away. It was as though Moffitt was adressing each chapter directly to me. ALL the chapters speak to the very heart of what it is to be human, deep sorrow and joy alike. He speaks with passion, ... Read More

- Very Moving Experience
This transforms the practice of the dharma into a moving experience due largely to the powerful penetration into the 4 Noble Truths and its 12 insights. Usually dharma books just race through the mention of the "insights" and you don't really catch their added significance. This alone is worth its weight. I felt touched by the Buddha of Compassion after this reading.

- For living daily life - for Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike
I am recommending this book to all of my friends, family, co-workers and acquaintances. Phillip Moffitt skillfully conveys the tools we can use to truly bring an end to our suffering. This isn't just about big suffering (grief, loss, physical pain), this applies to the suffering we all experience every single day (and have accepted as 'normal'). Our daily suffering is often restlessness and frustration, impatience and wishing the moment were something other than what it is. How we meet the circumstances ... Read More
