- A Rip-roarin', Hair raisin', rollickin' good time
I haven't read any of Shannon Hale's other work, but they are on my list.Still, when I saw the art for this book and read the premise of the story, I knew I really wanted to read it.
For those who haven't heard of the book, this is a graphic novel set in the fairy tale of Rapunzel.Rather than following the standard storyline where Rapunzel is trapped in a tower and rescued by some handsome prince, we're given the story of Rapunzel as a vengeful heroine who frees herself and sets ... - Rapunzel's Revenge
In the information I read, this book, Rapunzel's Revenge, was equated with the quality of the book called The True Story of the Three Little Pigs (an outstanding book/story). Unfortunately, Rapunzel's Revenge was NOTHING like that. It is way too complicated for young children and is written in comic book format and therefore not appropriate as a read aloud. I am sorry that I spent the money on this and will not recommend it to others without suggesting they actually look at a copy of it before purchasing.

Oh was I excited for this one!It's the tale of Rapunzel re-written to make her more of an independent cowgirl than the role of damsel-in-distress.Guess what the added bonus is?It's designed as a graphic novel (kind of like a comic book)!

Whem I first looked up this book I didn't even know it was a comic/graphic book, and when I found that out I was a little bit leery. A western take on Rapunzel? That actually sounded interesting. A comic book take? I wasn't so sure about that. I got over these fears about two pages into the book- after I stole it from my sister who was laughing over it and refusing to hand it over. Don't get me wrong--I love the old fairy tales.But sometimes it is really refreshing to read someone else's spin on the original story, and Rapunzel's Revenge is just such a spin.It is well-written, delightfully illustrated, and absolutely hilarious!I work in a children's bookstore and surprisingly we had a lot of little boys coming in looking for it.It's really clever how the authors made it a Western setting and gave Rapunzel the self-sufficiency that we have really come to admire and expect of women ...
