- best blaxploitation film next to Superfly
What a fine cast, William Smith, Carol Speed and Tarkington exhibit great screen presence and chemistry.They dont make films like this anymore.The plot is simple-- William Smith wants to take over Tarkington's street where he runs a fine bar, which leads to a showdown between these two fine actors.This film is just terrific, if you like Charles Bronson you will just love this 1974 film.Filled with tuff guys and filmed on location in some city somewhere (looks like a run-down area in Los Angeles), ... - Shakespear it's not.... but so what
This movie will never win an Oscar, but neither will 99% of the movies made. Seriously, this isn't that bad, not if you compare it to a lot of the other low budget movies made in the 70's and 80's. Plus William Smith is always fun. I give it two stars, worth watching on a rainy day when there's nothing else to do.
