Despite an irritating, tacked-on voice-over narration that somebody must have thought was necessary to make sense of the story (it wasn't), Last of the Dogmen is actually a very moving and magical film. Tom Berenger plays a Montana bounty hunter who helps an anthropologist (Barbara Hershey) search for the descendants of a Cheyenne tribe who disappeared in the 1870s. What the two find in a remote mountain stretch is an entire community of Cheyenne who have kept themselves cut off from the modern world. A Dances with Wolves parallel emerges as the white outsiders gradually fit in, but Last of the Dogmen stands up just fine without comparison to any other films. As in Kevin Costner's Oscar-winning movie, however, there are ways in which this film captures a similar sense of yearning, mystery, and loss. --Tom Keogh

- Best movie most people never saw!!!
There are few movies in my life that I paid to see multiple times in a theater, this is one of them. I took everyone who would listen as did my wife, this probably had a longer showing in Marietta GA than anywhere else in the US. The movie is great on Television, but on the big screen it is absolutely majestic. The scenery alone is worth the price of the movie. Tom Berenger and Barbara Hershey both play their respective roles to perfection, and the Indians are very real. The plot seems possible though ... Read More

Cowboy, indians, maiden, dog, horses, beautiful mountain backdrop, action and great story line....what more could anyone ask in a movie? I have two copies (one still in shrinkwrap in case I wear the other one out)...I have seen the movie like 20+ times and each time is better than the one before.
Steve Reevis is super sexy as Yellow Wolf. Wilford Brimley's voice as the narrator brings legitimacy and makes the movie as far as I am concerned.Get a copy if you can or rent it if you can and ... Read More

I just love this movie! I highly recommend it! A definite must see movie! This has always been one of my favorite movies! It is about a handsome man who is a bounty hunter, who while tracking some escaped prisoners through the Montana wilderness,discovers a mystery with no answers, and then sees something in the wilderness, that he thought that, he would never see in his lifetime!

Excellent movie.A little far out but with a wishful touch of belief.All excellent actors and the scenery is something.This movie stays in my collection for sure.
