With each passing year bringing another high-profile rock reunion, prompted as often by balloon mortgage payments as any real artistic hunger, oldfans could be excused for greeting 1997's announcement that the big Mac was backwith skepticism:at their commercial zenith, Fleetwood Mac had offered superbtransatlantic pop-rock with the added spice of a remarkable back-story, but theband's long decline and underwhelming later personnel shifts didn't bodewell.

Such guarded expectations make the musical punch of The Dance all themore impressive, and enable the meticulously produced concert special togenuinely surprise. The band's musicianship--the one constant between theoriginal, late '60s English blues band and its platinum '70s lineup featuringguitarist Lindsey Buckingham and singer Stevie Nicks--is in peak form, buttressed by a discreet auxiliary of additional musicians. Even with the hiredguns, though, it's the rock-solid rhythm section of founders Mick Fleetwood andJohn McVie, and Buckingham's impassioned playing that strike sparks. Always adynamic guitarist, Buckingham brings feverish intensity to both group classicsand solo turns such as "Go Insane."

Both familiar hits and new songs (including the solid "Temporary One" and "Bleedto Love Her") further confirm that this isn't a rote exercise--the band soundsfully engaged. Buckingham, Nicks, and the elegant Christine McVie retain theirvocal charm (although Nicks has clearly lost her upper register). And the senseof old wounds healed, and older affections acknowledged, gives true poignancy tothe set's high mark, a brilliant live version of "Silver Springs," a trulyhaunting Rumours-era B-side that proves deeply moving. --SamSutherland

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - repackaged Used DVD being sold as "new"?
The concert is great, my only complain is the disc itself: bought the DVD "new" (from Amazon), the packaging was sealed, but when I opened it up and looked at the disc.... I could see finger prints and light scratch marks on both sides, looks much like a used disc!

But it plays fine, so I kept it. Again, a great concert.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - An Awesome Addition for F.MacFans
This is a really great DVD for both the Fleetwood Mac fan as well as audiophiles wishing to pick up a really nice Demo disc.I won't say that all the tracks are fantastic. The songs you know, are all above average when compared to the recorded classics.Over half of those are great. And at least two or three of them are exceptional. My favorite on this disc is Silver Stream. I have no idea why it wasn't put on the album years ago when it was recorded(the rumour album if I recall correctly). ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Buy two of the DVD's - not one
Since the other reviewers have been so eloquent, I can only give you my recommendation on what to do:

1) Buy two of these DVD's
2) Save the other in a vault far, far away

That way if you ever lose everything, you'll know that at least you have this.

Jokes aside, the energy, love, talent, vibration and joy exuded by this group is simply inspiring. I recently went to their concert in Houston and it truly amazes me how they give it their all. When these people ... Read More

THIS DVD IS EXCELLENT---I DID NOT REALIZE IT IS A TWO SIDED DISC, ONE IS DTS 5.1 AND THE OTHER STEREO.I FIRST LISTENED/WATCHED IN STEREO AND WAS DISAPPOINTED BUT THEN CHECKED THE CASE AND FOUND IT'S TWO SIDED.SOUNDS GREAT IN 5.1 OR 6.1
