Since all we're talking about here is the music, you can rate "Hello Dolly" quite high because Barbra in the late 60s couldn't be beat to deliver the goods and she does wonders with the score.It never sounded so good.The two new songs are terrific ("Just Leave Everything to Me" and "Love is Only Love") and she handles the rest of the familiar terrain with ease and polish.She makes the most of "So Long Dearie" and with Louis Armstrong in tow, infuses new life and energy into the oft-performed ... I love Hello Dolly. Jerry Herman is my favorite Broadway composer next to Rodgers and Hammerstein.I rated this 3 stars because of the sound quality. The material is fantastic, fully orchestrated by the 20th Century Fox Orchestra, this is a great version of the musical, but the sound on this Phillips release is awful. The sound here was taken from the album masters, and the back of the packaging says it has been remastered. The problem is that they should have taken the recording from the original movie ... Rating: - Blind Buy, Should have ordered Wall-E Soundtrack.
After seeing Wall-E a million times with my kids, I fell in love with the two Hello Dolly songs that are heavily featured in the movie.I bought the Hello Dolly movie soundtrack thinking I might like other songs as well.I was wrong.
The audio quality is good and Streisand's voice is as nice as ever, but I really dont care for most of the songs on the CD.
