Bob Seger has racked up a lot of worthy tracks over the years, but it took until 1994 for a greatest hits package to appear. Voilà. The bad news: We're missing an awful lot of songs here. Night Moves is Seger's crit-pick album, and a great place to start if you don't have any Seger at all. Next in the rankings is Stranger in Town. Otherwise, his highs are pretty scattered, which would make any best-of package a worthy investment. But if you want to get comprehensive, "Rock & Roll Never Forgets," "Fire Down Below," "Horizontal Bop," "Her Strut," "Betty Lou's Getting Out Tonight," and "Katmandu" aren't on this CD--and you'll have to go to the original albums to secure them. --Gavin McNett

- Not Comprehensive But Perfect For What It Is
Many have noted previously that some of Seger's masterworks are not included on this album and there is no arguing the truth in that.While many of those missing songs were put on Volume 2, this greatest hits record is 13 great cuts.And In Your Time...
The album is mainly a tribute to your radio friendly Seger songs that you hear on any classic station.Even for a mild Seger fan, it is difficult to imagine anyone not being able to sing along with the majority of these songs.Between ... Read More

Bob Seger has a great voice - we all know that but I was disappointed with this greatest hits collection. Not all of his classics are featured here but thank goodness for Night Moves, We've Got Tonight, and Turn the Page are here. Seger is just a cool guy, nothing more to say.

Admittedly, there's good stuff on here ... but I've always wondered how they could possibly release a Bob Seger "greatest hits" album without "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man" or "Heavy Music"?

When I was a kid and this music first came out, I couldn't deny the catchiness of it, or how good the music was. What I couldn't relate much to was the lyrics, which while they had excellent story telling, didn't much relate to a teen-ager back in the '70s. What I have found is now that I'm eligible for AARP, I finally get it all. While I don't "wake up hummin' a song from 1962"... I might with a song from 1972, I can certainly relate to feeling "Like a Rock" when I was 18,and I completely get for example ... Read More
