CD players have come a long way. For less than the price of manysingle-disc models, you can now own RCA's RP-8065 five-discCD player. This model comes with a remote and allows you to play tracksrandomly (more than five hours of multi-artist music) in either aprogrammed sequence (up to 32 tracks), repeatedly by track ordisc, or as a complete set.
While the RP-8065 doesn't exhibit highly durable build quality, it's nevertheless a fine-sounding unit with a number of features in its favor. For one thing, the RP-8065 has a 1/4-in. headphone jack with its own dedicated volume knob. Also, this CD player's front-panel layout is designed for ease of use. A row of buttons across the top allows you to skip to the next available disc or jump to a specific disc using corresponding numbered buttons. We found the disc-skip time to be faster in the RP-8065 than in many multi-disc changers.
The load-and-play design of the disc drawer lets you load fourCDs while one is playing, and the beveled front-panel controlsare angled just right for extended fingers. In all, a perfectpiece for the music-deficient bedroom or living room.

Before the warranty period was up, I should have returned this item, but I didn't have an extended warranty.No matter: the unit would have died in the next (and last) year of the ew, so effectively, the unit was destined to two years' service.First came the volume control (erratic) then the tray (it became erratic after the first year).It's almost as if RCA programmed the failure--to what end is a mystery, as I would/will never buy another RCA product.If there's anything good to say about ... All the products I have chosen are only shipped within the US.I just can admire them;thats all.

It is Christmas of 2000 and we need a good CD player for the stereo as our Harman Kardon unit has been borrowed permanently by my brother.As I am the king of cheap, my wife and I and our six children stroll into 6th AVE in W.Paterson,NJ.Right smack up front is this pile of RCA RP-8065 5-DISC CD players on sale for the absolutely rock bottom price of $[..]!!! This CD changer seems incapable of successfully playing 5 CD's at a random setting without mis-reading at least 2 of the CD's-I'm constantly having CD's skip because they are not placing in the tray correctly when being played.Once I had one completely stuck in there and had to pay a repair shop to get it out (and paid about the same price of the CD changer!)
Spend a bit more and get a reliable CD player that actually plays correctly.
