All of your favorite Nintendo characters have come together to answer the question: who is king of the Nintendo hill? The format can aptly be described as Super Mario Kart meets Mortal Kombat, which makes for an odd, yet addictive game. The object is to throw, punch, smash, or blast your opponents off the edge of the beautifully rendered, themed arenas. Numerous power-ups, weapons, and surprises help or hinder the melee. Your eventual goal is to fight your way through to a bizarre final boss character. Victory in this battle rewards you with another character to play, such as the scene-stealing Pokémon, Jigglypuff.

From Star Fox's laser pistol to Link's hook shot, each character's trademark special abilities are utilized to knock one another off the screen. The game does a great job balancing the characters' widely differing powers so that no one character has an insurmountable advantage. The sound and animations are also dead-on: Donkey Kong is a huge, cartoonish ape, while Link is much more detailed and realistic. And Pikachu's famous thunder shock attack is accompanied by a fearsome yell of "PIKA!"
Unlike most fighting games, Super Smash Bros. allows you to team up with a computer partner and take on other teams in both single and multiplayer modes. But the most fun is had when four human players play in a battle royale. The game quickly becomes a scene of incredibly fun chaos: picture Mario beating up on Luigi, while Donkey Kong is chased by a scampering, sledgehammer-wielding Pikachu. Rating: - Game is Sweet. I stupidly bought the booklet by mistake
The game is really fun. It's a good twist on the fighting genre of games and all the characters feel really balanced against each other.
I however was dumb and did not read the description very well on here and bought the booklet thinking that it was the game. I thought I was getting this great deal on the game for only $2.00. So just make sure that before you buy it you make sure its the game and not something else.

This game is truely the best N64 game ever made. If you want to puarchase it, don't be afraid of the corny cartoony looks on the front of the box. The game is almost as detailed as Super Smash Bros Melee. If you can't afford Super Smash Bros Melee and have a good N64 rusting in your garage, now is the time to buy this. I got mine used, but in very-good condition. There are 8 characters in the game, Samus Aran, Kirby, Mario, DK, Pikachu, Fox Mccould,Yoshi and Link. There are an extra 4 unlockable ... Read More

First off, let me just say this game revolutionized Nintendo. Just search Super Smash Bros., and numerous titles come up. But anyways, back to the game. This game is so much fun, I can remember skipping Halloween as a 3rd grader to play with my friends on a 13 inch TV. We couldn't have had more fun. The variety of characters and stages bring hours of fun, and also trying to figure which character is the most effective and fun to use brings much competition.
