This Sony TCM-929 Desktop Cassette Recorder is a modern, detailed and feature-rich cassette recorder for the home or office. With a built-in microphone and speaker, the recorder is ready to record your thoughts, exam reviews, important reminders and novel ideas. The retractable handle is a plus for those carting the recorder around school, or from meeting to meeting. The three-digit tape counter, one touch recording and pause control all ensure that you have all the features necessary to make editing and recording an easy and fruitful process. The volume is very good.The sound is clear.I especially like the small size.My car is equipped with only a CD player, so I needed something that would play my books on tape.This can run on 4 AA batts.(I have a Sony that needs 8 C batts.!) If you need a portable, you'll enjoy using this one.

The following was a consequence to reckon with (then came the digital age)...
Sony CFS-W455 had the best internal microphone of any boom box, and too bad I once damaged the record side's tape door with a Koosh ball a dozen years ago... Soon got rid of it, but never forgot how great Sony's level of quality was for $80 at the local ACME store back then. Unfortunately, today, it is probably scarce as hen's teeth in the hope in finding one, if you are a fan of vintage recording equipment. ... Read More

This recorder may be a good one for those who received an operable machine, but it turns out BuyAccessories will not back a defective product for an exchange. Our only option, if THEY decide to accept it, is to return it for only a portion of the money we paid for it. That policy, for a company that is represented through Amazon, is a terrible violation of basic consumer trust and makes me sorry I ever ordered. Find another source!

THIS TURNED OUT TO BE A GREAT LITTLE RECORDER FOR JUST WHAT WE NEEDED. WHEN I SAW THE PICTURE OF THE SONY RECORDER IT LOOKED JUST LIKE THE GOOD OLD RELIABLE ONES WE USED TO HAVE 20 OR 30 YEARS AGO AND I DIDN'T THINK I COULD FIND ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN THE STORES, SO I WENT ON LINE AND FOUND EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED. WE ATTEND A BIBLE STUDY AND MY HUSBAND WOULD TRY TO WRITE D0WN WHAT WAS BEING SAID AND IT WAS HARD TO WRITE AND CONCENTRATE ON OUR TEACHER. WE SAT AROUND A TABLE AT A RESTAURANT EVERY WEDNESDAY ...
