Product Description:
Classic 31161-201 8" ChefsKnife
Amazon.com Review:
A good chef's knife becomes your daily kitchen companion. It's used for everything from prepping steaks for the grill to finely mincing onions, and chances are you'll reach for it every time you cook--so it better be good. This lower-priced line from Henckels is a great value: excellent quality knives with their standard lifetime warranty. There's good balance, and the handles are a shade heavier than other lines, which some cooks will prefer. The 8-inch blade length is the most practical for multipurpose use, and regular sharpening will keep the stainless-steel blade razor-sharp. It's only minimally flexible, which makes it a great choice for vegetables such as potatoes and turnips. While it's dishwasher-safe, unless it needs sanitizing after use with raw meat, it's often easier to hand wash. --Jill Lightner

- A big disappointment
I have what was supposedly this exact same knife at my winter house.I bought it a few years ago and I love it.When I decided I needed a knife for my summer house I looked at all the fancy ones and decided that my Spanish-made Henkels was still the best way to go.So I ordered this one. What a disappointment! My older knife is about 3/16" to 1/4" thick. It has heft and good balance. This pathetic excuse for a chef's knife is only about 1/8" thick.Yeah, I know that the marketing people like ... - Your knife search is over
This chef's knife is the best that I have ever used.I have used it daily for the last year on everything and it has not lost its sharpness. It is the perfect size and weight. If you are looking for a do-it-all knife than your search is over. You can spend more on a knife but I doubt it will perform any better.

- My other knives are lonely these days
I love this knife. It has great balance, weighted just right, plus a beautiful edge that makes light work out of the toughest jobs. It's about the only knife I reach for these days. I'm not sure how I managed without it for so long.
You can pay a LOT more for a good chef's knife if you really want to, but if you're looking for a great all-purpose chef's knife at a great price, this is it.It's a steal.

- Fantastic Knife
I absolutely love this knife: I find it comparable to our sous-chef's 8" Wusthoff, and actually prefer it now. It's sharp out of the box, has a great heft, and keeps a good edge.Overall, far better than any "cheap" knife out there.

- A real workhorse, good for everyday use
I purchased this knife from Target about 4 years ago for about the same price. Since then, I have left it in 2 kitchens at corporate restaurants among co-workers who didn't always know how to take care of a knife, to say the least. I can only imagine the abuse this knife saw in that time, and the only damage is the very tip, about 1/16th of an inch, is snapped off, doubtlessly from being dropped point down onto a floor.
I still use it on a daily basis, and with use of a diamond steel it ... Read More
