- Awesome game!
I used to play this game for hours many years ago. The guy that gave it two ratings (Atli Hafsteinsson) seems frustrated as if he played it way too many times and has never completed the game.The game is somewhat of a bootleg version of Mario Bros.However, it is very entertaining and addictive.I too played it for many years trying to complete the game and never succeeded.I would get to level 8 and could never pass it.What's worse, you have to start from the beginning as all ninento games ... - Incredibly Frustrating: Beyond the Witch Doctor's Healing Powers
Adventure Island seems cute and innocent when you play it just to pass time. When you get the ambition to beat it, however, it reveals itself to be an exceptionally frustrating and unrewarding experience. A difficult game it is - and in a very bad, bad way. Released two years after Super Mario Bros., Adventure Island quite obviously apes after that game - 8 worlds, 4 levels each, recycled palettes, damsel in distress, big bad guy to defeat - and yet it lacks everything that made that game so enjoyable. ... Rating: - Best Nintendo Game Ever!
I really love this game. It's a Mario Brothers style game with different challenges. It's a one player, which kinda stinks, but it's worth it. I would recommend thisgame to anyone.
Rating: - Great action/adventure game!
Hudson did a great job with this game.For anyone who has ever played it, this is an original classic.You are this pudgy looking guy who runs around on this island (kind of like a Super Mario format) killing things and at the end of each level, you have to beat a boss (who is the same type of enemy each time, but has a different head).All in all, this an excellent game, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it before!
