I was introduced to Eva Cassidy's music about 5/6 years ago.As I have read in all the reviews,she has the most amazing voice ever.I tell that to people all the time.She is my alltime favorite and I listen to every kind of music.I so miss the part of never being able to see her live, in concert.What a JOY that would have been. I love all the songs on these two CDS, but my favorites are: Over the Rainbow, Fields of Gold, etc... I am probobly going to purchase the remaining CDs.I just ... Read More

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Eva Cassidy was a minor celebrity on the Maryland-D.C. club circuit, with a small but devoted coterie of fans. Unlike bigger stars with smaller talents, Eva did not aggressively seek the limelight, but was content to sing whatever she liked, a trait that made her difficult to pigeonhole for the corporate packagers of pop. I have always listened attentively whenever a selection by this very talented musican came over the radio; however, it wasn't until I heard Cassidy's redition of Paul Simon's "Kathy's Song" on a folk music station that I finally bought a the CD that included that song.Cassidy's interpretation of a wide range of genres on this CD---from Irish folk ballad to pop to blues---is truly phenomenal and her delivery of all of them is as smooth as silk.That cancer took her young life is truly tragic, but her ...
