Product Description:
NORPRO 175 SS VEGETABLE STEAMER

Amazon.com Review:
It's less what it includes than what it lacks that makes this Norpro vegetable steamer a cut above your average steamer insert. Without a bothersome center post, there is plenty of unobstructed room to steam entire heads of broccoli or cauliflower or full-length cobs of corn--and finished vegetables are easier to remove with a spoon or a spatula as denser veggies keep steaming. No need to slice carrots or pole beans beforehand--just plop them whole into the basket, which expands from 7 to 10 inches, depending on the size of the pot you set it in.

The three-pronged base provides stability equal to models with center posts, but instead of one central handle there are two ring-style side handles. This is another improvement, as you don't need to reach into the middle of the steaming-hot food to remove the basket, and using the side handles supports the basket's shape rather than allowing its "petals" to pop open flat upon lifting. The heavy-duty waffled segments hold tightly together during use and fold inward for compact storage. --Carol Gnojewski

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - You get what you pay for....
Purchased this several months ago. I like the size and looks of it. But it is falling apart after 3-4 months. My prior one lasted at least 10-15 years. Thus if you want one to last pay the extra money. This one will last about 3-6months if you are lucky. The 'petals' ar just crimped in and start to fall off after 6-8 uses.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Broke Early
I've only used the steamer a few times, and one of the legs fell off.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It is what it is.
Much heavier gauge metal & sturdier than any locally available options. Straightforward design, with no gadgets or gimmicks. One inch feet could be a bit taller (no problem, just use three stainless 1/8 inch bolts & hex nuts through existing holes). Also, 2 or 3 can be stacked using a 3/16" threaded center rod with nuts and washers --handy for big jobs. Should last a good long time with decent care. Cleaning is naturally more involved, just because of all the nooks & crannies, but using a soft bristle ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not Sturdy Enough
This steamer works ok, but it broke in less than 6 months.A steamer section with one of the loops on it broke off.I can kind of shove it back in, but it's a real nuisance.

I have only used this product for its intended use, and it's already broken.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - steamer/radio-telescope
OK, not good as a radio telescope. Nice steamer though. You should consider the model with a center handle as it is easier to lift out of pan when hot. This one has wire rings on both sides to lift by, which work but are probably not as convenient as a center handle.
