Amazon.com Review:
This thermometer instantly ascertains the temperature of foods, whether they're on the buffet line or being cooked. Its 1-inch dial, protected by a shatterproof plastic lens, displays temperatures from 0 to 220 degrees F. The thermometer comes with a pocket case and has a 5-inch stainless-steel stem. Should it seem to be off kilter, the thermometer can be recalibrated by twisting the hexagonal hub beneath the dial with pliers. --Fred Brack

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Constantly goes out of calibration
I've owned one of these for about a year, and always handled it gently. But the thing is constantly putting itself way out of calibration. One day water boils at 202F (I live in Colorado), the next day it boils at 178F.I keep a wrench in my kitchen so I can always boil a batch of water, calibrate it, and then actually measure what I need to.But that is a huge pain and a waste of energy.

Other than its ability to measure temperature, yeah, it's great.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Handy dandy Thermometer
This little fellow works great, and its holder is really handy in preventing it from falling in to the mix!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - handy little thermometer
This is a pretty basic, but handy little thermometer. It comes with a plastic clip-on protective case. One thing the description doesn't mention is that the hole you can insert the thermometer into for recalibration, can also be used to just put the thermometer into to allow it to sit across the the top of a jar.I don't consider it to be an "instant-read" since it does take a little bit of time for the pointer to spin around, but it is still pretty quick.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Worked for me!
I needed to take the temperature of some milk I was boiling and cooling for yogurt - I knew my old thermometer never worked so I bought this one because it was cheap & easy and had some pretty good reviews. Surprise surprise - it worked and was quick!!!:) So easy and simple...don't waste your money on the more expensive ones!!! Sometimes simple is best;)

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Never worked
This item never worked out of the box. Not in the freeze, not under hot water, not in boiling water not in a pot roast. Always showed the same temperature. I assume I got a defective one and got another one at the grocery store which has the added benefit of not needing a magnifying glass to read the dial. It now sits in a landfill.
