Amazon.com Review:
Most ovens, especially old ones, run hotter or colder than their set temperatures indicate. Rather than guessing how much to raise or lower the heat for a particular recipe, bake and roast with precision using a highly accurate oven thermometer like the Taylor Oven Guide. Made from durable, heavy-duty stainless steel, this mercury-free thermometer measures temperatures from 100 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit. The large, easy-to-read face also provides Celsius markings and a heating zone guide as well. Dishwasher-safe, this thermometer can hang in the oven or stand alone. It's NSF listed for food hygiene and safety.--Mary Park

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Had to return...twice
Even though the description and photograph of this product indicates that it has both Centigrade and Fahrenheit, I was sent a Fahrenheit-only thermometer twice in a row. Whoever is pulling the product from the bin and putting it in the mailing box isn't doing their job properly. The good thing is that returning the product is fairly easy -- print the pre-paid label and ship it off.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - I'd hit that "Pause" button before giving a(5) Star Rating :)
I just received my Taylor Oven Guide Thermometer.I wanted an accurate thermometer to check/verify various temperature settings in our 36" Wolf Gas oven.

The thermometer itself is simple and appears to be high quality. Upon checking the thermometer out further I noticed that the glass thermometer rod slides back and forth, left and right, on the stainless steel holder, thus accuracy goes right out the window perhaps by as much as + or- 15 degrees. What I did to correct this was ... Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Can't read anything
No matter how or where I mount this thermometer, I can't tell what the temp is in my oven. I've got a squeaky clean window, so that isn't the problem. I've tried to put it as close to the window without being in the way of the food I'm cooking. I've tried it with the internal light on and off. I've tried different angles by bending the base. I even tried to rotate the thermometer glass (VERY carefully). No matter what I tried, I still can't read the darn thing. I guess I'll try a good old dial type ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Best I've Used, but Faded Markings Will Happen on Cleaning
Easiest to use/read and most accurate oven thermometer that I've used (out of five different models). The warnings about the markings coming off with heavy cleaning are true, and I've had to buy replacements due to this. That stated, I've chosen to buy another of these instead of go back to one of the less preferred ones I have in my drawer. The only solution I've come up with is to try to keep it clean with regular gentle washings with a soapy sponge, thus avoiding the need for heavy cleaning.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Checked calibration of oven with TWO thermometers!
Taylor Oven Guide Thermometer
Believing two thermometers are necessary to verify the calibration of our oven, I purchased this Taylor Oven Guide Thermometer model together with the Sunbeam, 90300, Oven Thermometer, Stainless Steel. Both read within two degrees of each other and the oven itself was right on the money!
