We bought this CD after attending a show where Chrissy Hynde looked and acted just as she did 'back in the day', with as much energy as we remembered!
It was a great show and it is a great CD - all of her old tracks are here.
Rating: - PURE PRETENDERS "GOLD" - AN EXCELLENT GREATEST HITS CD!!!!
This is a great one, it contains 20 songs. It covers hits from the beginning of their career, through the cd Viva El Amor. It contains some excellent collaborations such as: "I got you babe" with UB40, "Spiritual High" (State of Independence) with Moodswings, and "Breakfast in Bed" with UB40. This is a must-have cd for any Pretenders fan. The Pretenders are inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and this cd proves why they deserve to be there!!!! Thanks!!!

- We're not "Kids" anymore
Hey, when I was 18, and the Pretenders first album came out, I thought it was the coolest album in the world, and I played it to death. Now, almost 30 years later, this collection is the Pretenders sound for me, a more mellow, older, wiser sound that suits Chrissie Hynde just fine. Chrissie's soundhas matured into middle-age with grace and class, and the music here represents that more mature sound very well. Truthfully, as a middle-ager myself, at this point in my life I can relate to a song like ... Read More

Eldest daughter couldn't locate this CD and requested I check Amazon.Sure enough, Amazon had it available and in a few days the disc was in her hands and a smile was upon her face.I listened and found the group's music really good.Used a couple tunes in a family photo DVD slide show.Is there anything Amazon doesn't have?

This CD from The Pretenders is a step up from The Singles in that it moves from the albums after Get Close and up to Viva el Amor!. You get a bonus cut in "State Of Independence" (not necessarily a plus) and better sound. Nineteen songs in all, from the cool fire of "Brass In Pocket" to their best rocker, "Middle of The Road," the actual bonuses are "Human" (a remix from the "Viva" CD and a shoulda-been hit) and "I'll Stand By You" from Last of the Independents.
