Rating: - Great basic detector for the price
Product shipped super fast, easy to put together and up and running with minimal effort. Works exceptionally well for the price. I was a little surprised at the depth it found several objects on our test run, a piece of aluminum can about 8 inches down in some pretty hard packed ground.With a little practice the tone knob can be used to help differentiate between different types of metals, not super effective but works well enough. All in all, great intro detector!
Rating: - Won't Detect Wire
I bought the Bounty Hunter to locate my underground low voltage wire to my lighting system. It wouldn't detect any of the wires underground.So, I cut a piece of the same type wire and laid it on my garage floor just to make sure it would detect the wire on the surface.It would not detect the wire at all. It works fine on all the test items recommended in the manual i.e,. like nails, coins of all types aluminum foil etc. but won't detect the wire at all.Anyone had any success with detecting ... I bought this for my 14 yr. old son and he loves it. He hardly puts it down. I have 2 regrets I should have purchased one for me and now I havelittle mounds of dirt thru out the back yard. Oh well I guess it is worth it. Excellent product.

Sensitivity is measured in two dimensions - this model works on the surface but lacks sensitivity below ground.

I just used this today to clean up nails in our driveway after our contractors left for the day. It works very well!It always finds what I can't see!
I'm very excited to take it to the beach when the weather warms up...
