Amazon.com Review:
This knife sets combines high performance and durability with desirable safety features. The key to this combination is the blade. Blades are made from high-carbon stainless steel, which resists rust and discoloration. The edges are hand-ground to Chicago Cutlery's exclusive Taper Grind edge, which tapers gradually for a smoother performance than traditional blunt angles. For added safety, the blade extends through the handle and is held firmly in place by three brass rivets. The walnut handles are ergonomically designed so you can face a marathon chopping session. This set includes two 3-inch paring knives, a 5-inch utility knife, a 6-inch utility knife, and 7-1/2-inch fillet knife, an 8-inch carver, an 8-inch chef's knife, and a 10-inch bread knife. To help keep your knives sharp and in top condition the set includes a sharpening steel and storage block. --Laura Cuthbert

- My wife couldn't be happier
My wife has been using this brand of knife (walnut tradition-great handles) for over twenty years and when her favorite knife dropped to the floor (concrete) and snapped I started looking around for a replacement. She was very happy to get the entire set in the block. Very nice, and thank you.

- Substantial knife set at a budget price point
In the overall scheme of things, this knives are cheap for the number of knives you get at the price point. I grew up in a household where we couldn't have a sharp knife because my mother would always slice her fingers open. Some 20 years later, a heavy sharp knife feels amazing when you're using it! Must be something about the mother thing, but I can imagine when cutting chicken that the blade is going right through my finger, bone and all. Which I think that most of these knives would be fully ... Read More

- Wouldn't use anything else!
Almost 30 years ago my Consumer Reports magazine rated Chicago Cutlery wood-handle knives as the best they tested, and a "Best Buy". So I bought a set.
Boy were they right!! All I have left is a single steak knife; my ex-wives have the rest of them. So now I have to buy a new set. I'm buying the same thing that I had before. I wouldn't buy anything else.
The one knife I still have is as good as the day I bought it. It has an incredible edge; a couple of swipes with the steel and you can ... Read More

- Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition
This knife-set is excellent for the price. I have owned my set for 10+ years and they are still in great shape. The people who gave them a low rating are ignorant (1 star and 3 star). The person that gave them a 2 star rating seemed to like them but was comparing them to top shelf knives.
If you do not want to care for your knives and throw them in a
dishwasher; buy yourself a set of Ginsu knives every few years. If you
take care of these knives, they will last a long time. ... Read More

In my opinion, these are some of the best kitchen knives in the world for the money. The first set I bought over 30 years ago and we are still using them.A little care proper technique in sharpening them will reward you with sharp knives that last a long time.I have used knives that cost a lot more money than these Chicago Cutlery knives but I always come back to my old, dependable Chicago Cutlery. We cook from "scratch" and this includes buying big pieces of meat and then processing this into ...
