Norpro's three-piece bamboo steamer set could steam a whole meal. At 10 inches in diameter and 6-1/4 inches high, it is large enough for eight pork buns (there's a recipe on the box) on one level and a mound of broccoli, carrots, and snap peas on the other. Just put the steamer in a wok or frying pan that has a little water in it. Then arrange the food in the steamer, cover, and heat the water.
Steaming is a remarkable healthy cooking style--it uses no oil, retains more vitamins and nutrients than other cooking methods, and helps seal in moisture. The lowest tier of the steamer will cook foods more quickly, so use it for larger items. Wash the steamer by hand, and give it a thin coat of vegetable oil after washing to keep the bamboo from drying out. --A.J. Rathbun

I do not recommend buying this brand of baskets - keep searching on Amazon!
There are hundreds of bamboo steamers on line these days and rightfully so - they are a must have in the kitchen.However not all steam baskets are the equal.This one is poorly made.You need to make sure you read the reviews and buy one that is constructed well.The factory can cut corners and use thin bamboo strips to weave the lid. When that happens the lid of the steamer will break down quickly like this one ... Read More

- Great Steamer
This set has held up well. I've steamed fish, dumplings, little buns, and all sorts of Asian style foods in here and it fits perfectly into a medium sized wok.
Steamed live crabs as well, but a stock pot is far sturdier and the crabs die faster and don't suffer as much.

I had this for almost 3 years now and I have to say that is has been a great buy. I even left one on top of the hot stove top and it got a little singe but it is still doing fine.

I have no complaints about this steamer. It does it's job, and no flaws after multiple uses thus far. Don't forget to wash it in cold water and massage vegetable oil into it after using, so that the bamboo doesn't crack!
