Product Description:
If you grew up in the 1940's and 1950's, it's more likely you saw a coffee percolator like this one on your parents' stovetop. The origins of the percolator go back to about 1818 in France. Prior to that, coffee was made in vacuum pots or was boiled. By the middle to late 1800's travelers immigrating to the United States from Europe brought these percolators with them. Many of these pots made coffee for families that used wood stoves on their journey westward. This Farberware model follows that classic design but is made of stainless steel. It's easy to use, clean, and maintain. You can expect years of quality service from this coffee maker. Farberware has added a stay-cool handle to help make pouring a lot easier. It truly is a classic refined.
Amazon.com Review:
Sleek and contemporary, this gleaming percolator brews fromfour to eight cups of coffee on the stovetop for full, old-fashionedflavor. A permanent filter basket (no messy paper filters needed)provides modern efficiency. The handle is synthetic (to stay cool) andslightly textured, a combination ensuring safe, comfortable pouring.Because the percolator is made of highly polished 18/10 stainlesssteel, the beauty of its gleaming mirror finish is long-lasting. Tofully maintain the finish, the percolator should be hand washed, although the filter basket and glass cap can go into the dishwasher. The percolator stands 8-1/2 inches high on a 6-1/4-inch-diameter base.--Fred Brack

- A VERY HAPPY COFFEE GUY!
After going thru 3 fancy coffee makers in two years I decided to make coffee as grandma did. I was a bit apprehensive about this kind of pot but was pleasantly surprised with the sturdy-quality stainless steel pot and inside parts. It only took me 2 days to figure out strength and timing in order to get great tasting coffee on an electric stove. Making coffee this way does take a little patience, but it's worth it! The only complaint I have is the 4-6-8 cup marks are not visable on the inside of ... Read More

- Totally satisfied
This is a great product at a very reasonable price. I purchased this as a Mother's Day gift for my mother and she is thrilled with it! I might add that she is very fussy. I feel that the description of the product was completely adequate. I had purchased another percolator from a different website prior to purchasing this one and I had to return it. It arrived damaged and was not at all what I had expected. This product is far superior and actually did not cost all that much more.

- Better than I expected!Wonderful purchase.
I've tried a lot of different mechanism to brew coffee... but none have topped the coffee made by this percolator.I've never owned a percolator before and only purchased this Farberware Yosemite model based on the reviews here at Amazon.I've made about 10 pots of coffee over the past couple of weeks and it has performed incredibly well.
Those people who report problems are clearly not using this percolator properly!Read the manual!I haven't had any problems with the cap deforming, ... Read More

- surprisingly good coffee
I've never used a percolator before and am not a coffee snob, but do appreciate a good cup that one sometimes gets in a restaurant (I don't like Starbucks coffee, though, which I think tastes burnt and bitter).I am relatively happy with my drip coffee maker, but it just didn't have the ooomph and aroma that comes with a really really good cup.So, I decided to try a different way of making coffee.Well, it tastes excellent!Cleaning was a little tedious, but not bad.I took the advice of some other ... - "ALMOST"
THE BODY, THE ACTUAL POT IS FINE "BUT" THE PLASTIC PERCOLATER TOP DOES NOT DO ITS JOB. AFTER A FEW SCREW ONS & OFFS IT NO LONGER FITS. I'VE BOUGHT BOTH THE PLASTIC & THE GLASS AND NEITHER FITS FOR VERY LONG. BUT NEVER SAY DIE, MAYBE IF I MAKE MY OWN TOP I'LL BE A HAPY CAMPER. UNTIL THEN I KNOW I'VE BEEN HAD. DOES ANYBODY EVER TEST ANYTHING ANYMORE.
