Product Description:
Caramelize onions, quickly sear or saute your favorite seafood or meat and prepare deliciously crisp potatoes using this 3-qt. saute pan with lid, the one that combines the beauty of stainless steel with the superior performance of aluminum. Interior and exterior layers of surgical-quality, 18/10 stainless steel surround an inner core of highly conductive, heavy gauge aluminum. The aluminum core spreads heat evenly and responds to temperature changes quickly. The softly brushed, stainless interior provides clear visual clues when cooking and naturally masks signs of wear. And the mirror-polished exterior provides the brilliant look stainless lovers admire. The ergonomic "Cool V" handle design provides superior balance and feel, and vents heat away from the long handle, keeping it touchably cool on the stovetop. A domed, tempered glass lid lets you monitor cooking at a glance as it re-circulates moisture and nutrients back into the food.
Amazon.com Review:
With aluminum cores enclosed by stainless-steel layers,Calphalon's Tri-Ply pots and pans deliver the best attributes of bothmetals. The aluminum cores conduct heat quickly and uniformly acrossthe pots and pans' bottoms and all the way up their sides. The durable,18/10 stainless-steel interiors and exteriors are easy to clean, resistscratching, denting, warping, and corrosion, and are nonreactive toacidic food. This 3-quart sauté pan has a domed, glass lid socooking can be monitored without releasing heat. The lid is oven-safeto 450 degrees F, ensuring the pan not only can be used atop a stovefor cooking chicken and simmering asparagus but can go into the ovenfor braising. Handles stay cool on the stovetop and the pan's rim isflared to facilitate dripless pouring.Tri-Ply cookware is polished to a mirror finish outside for beauty andwears a satin finish inside to conceal inevitable utensil marks. Itgoes safely into the dishwasher, although hand washing better preservesthe mirror finish, and carries a lifetime warranty against defects.--Fred Brack

- Money well spent!
I was lucky enough to buy this saute pan for $14 at Dillards in 2004.Hard to believe, I know.I have enjoyed this pan so much, and its glass lid hasn't been a problem for me.Sure, the All-Clad is great, but when you can get this one for much less and still get great performance, then why not do it?
I haven't had trouble with discoloration, but that may be because I am cursed with an electric stove.Cleaning around the rivets isn't a problem because I just grab the vegetable brush ... Read More

- Exceptional addition to any kitchen
Unfortunately, this pan is no longer sold as an open stock item, and can only be found in sets, such as the 8- and 13- piece sets. Fortunately, I was able to buy it from a Marketplace seller for a very agreeable amount of $50.However, I do see that Amazon is selling it for $150, which is vastly inflated, but takes into account the fact that it can't be obtained without buying the 13 piece, $399 set.
This pan is just the right size for sauteeing, stir frying, you name it. It's not huge ... Read More
