Amazon.com Product Description:
These super-light, ear-bud headphones weigh a mere six grams (.18 ounces.) They are the perfect headphone for those who relish lightweight, quality headphones. The silent cap confines the music to the listener's ear and away from those in the immediate area, a plus for those using the headphones in the coffee shop or library. The earphones are also open-air, meaning they allow ambient noises to enter the ear; this translates to a safer headphones, as the listener will be aware of horns, whistles and shouts. A key feature to these headphones is the in-line volume control. This volume control is a rotary/slide design and allows for handy volume adjustment.

The MDR-E829V's deliver a quality sound, even with their small size. The headphones use sixteen millimeter drive units for a deep bass and clear treble. Sony also uses neodymium magnets which provide more energy per ounce than other conventional magnets. The PET diaphragm gives the headphones a high rigidity for minimum distortion. Finally, Sony's Acoustic Twin Turbo circuit achieves high sonic output by utilizing sound chamber and duct technology. The cord is one meter long (3.3 feet) for ample range of movement. The housing is a modern, hi-tech, black and silver metallic finish. The compact winding case stores the ear-buds and cord when not needed; its small size fits nicely in a purse or back pocket.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great sound, loud, durable.
I've been a fan of this model line for at least four generations. Each set lasts me about two years. I discovered them way back in the days of the minidisc, and while the looks of the earpiece hasn't changed, the sound has definitely gotten better. These phones have always had a deep, clear bass presence lacking in most other earbuds. I don't think bass response is flat, but I've always found it a good sound for rock and/or roll. For audiobooks and blogs it's a bit too clear, and you'll notice lots ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - After trying several other headphones
After trying several different pairs of headphones i bought these because they looked like a pair i had previously had. I went to several different stores and bought the over the ear style of headphones and the ones that go in your ear and these by far were the only ones with bass and exceptional highs also. Unless you want BOSE headphones get these and you will be happy. My only complaint is that they only fit your ear if it's medium to large. If you have small ears don't even bother with these.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Sony ear buds
The product was as I expected, although, a little larger than I imagined it. Good for quick access and rapid retrieval.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good sound, great price
These have been my most trusted headphones since high school or college (it's been so long I can't remember!)...over a decade, at least. They're comfortable, make good sound, and super convenient because of the inline volume control. While I prefer in-ear earbuds for long flights, the rest of the time I prefer these as it creeps me out to walk around without some sort of audio sense of my surroundings.

I only have a few quibbles, none of which are worth losing a star. Quibble 1, the foam ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My Personal Favorites.
I have to say, I love these headphones, and since the past 6 years I've owned only two pairs of headphones, and both of them were this model. The first ones stopped working after 4.5 years of use because I stepped on them by accident, and I only got about year's worth of use out of the last one because I got it caught in the door and one of the wires pulled off.If it wasn't for my clumsiness I would still be on the first pair.A whole bunch of my family and friends use this kind and we've never had ...
