Newman is very good, and while Hill goes for the gusto in terms of capturing the violence of this world, his instinct for comedy has never been sharper. Excellent hockey movie.Truely a product of it's time.Captures semi-pro hockey of the 1970's very well.DVD version is very well done.Language and nudity unsuitable for younger viewers.

This review relates to the unreliable delivery service and lack of response from Amazon.com with respect to my purchase of this DVD. I purchased this item on December 10th in hopes of giving it to my son as a Christmas gift. My purchase was confirmed and on December 11th, I received an update notifying me that the DVD had shipped with delivery expected on December 18th. Rating: - Great movie, a classic for a reason!
Slap Shot is easily one of the greatest sports movies of all time. Certainly one of the top hockey movies of all time at least. One of Paul Newman's most memorable performances, enough that the hockey world stopped to recognize him when he unfortunately passed. I don't know a hockey fan that does not love this movie, it is certainly one that no hockey fan's movie library would be complete without.
