I recently purchased this set of knives to either replace my old cheap knives or to become my primary set of knives for my cooking chores.This set has met and truly exceeded my expectations.First of all the original advertisement indicated a Santoku, but instead I got the carving fork that goes with the carving knife.That is actually the better way to sell this set.The fork is a little cheap feeling, but for the most part I can live with that. I bought this knives set for my wife for Chrismas gift in 2007.I decided to give a rating after using the set for over a year. The Set comes with 18 pieces and I will give them rating individual and frequency of usage!

First thing to keep in mind is that this is the 2nd LOWEST quality knife set in the J.A. Henckels catalog - which is the made in Germany line. There are lower cost sets in the International line, which are all made in Asia (various places. I assume that some of those sets are also lower quality, so things can get worse.
If you want a really good quality Henckels knife set, be prepared to shell out $600-1000 or more. With this set, you're paying as much for the name as the quality. They've ... Read More

This is the first "good" set of knives I've ever owned. They are sharp, are easy to sharpen and make cooking a pleasure.

The set of knives is outstanging. Howerver, there were only 16pc in the set (inc block). Missing two of the larger knives. Another Christmas disappointment.
