Product Description:
To achieve a spectacular cup of coffee there are essential steps that need to be taken. The water must be free of chlorine taste (hence the charcoal filter), the machine must be able to brew larger or smaller amounts successfully (this one "knows" to disperse hot water more slowly when the coffee ground amount is less). The coffee must be very hot (right around 192 Degrees F, like the brew from the MT500), and kept fresh, as in a double walled stainless steel carafe with a one way valve that keeps flavor and aroma in the coffee. Now it doesn't hurt if the machine itself is gorgeous either, or that it can output 10 cups of coffee in 8 minutes. Oh and one more thing: this is the only coffee maker in its class that has a stainless steel boiler so your coffee doesn't ever come in contact with aluminum. Normally this type of construction, and a 1200 watt heating element are found only on commercial grade appliances.
Amazon.com Review:
Employing a stainless-steel vacuum carafe instead of a warmingplate, this 1,200-watt coffeemaker brews up to ten 5-ounce cups in just8 minutes for maximum flavor and aroma, and the carafe then keeps thecoffee hot for 4 hours. The carafe prevents coffee from turning bitter,as it can when sitting on a warming plate, and doesn't have to remainwith the machine for coffee to stay hot. To reduce calcification,Capresso's stainless-steel ThermoBlock system prevents water fromcontacting aluminum inside the machine. Other features: a digital, programmable, 24-hour clock/timer that makes it possible to have coffeeready in the morning; an automatic pause when the carafe is removedduring the brewing process for a quick pour; a charcoal water filter toremove up to 83 percent of the chlorine in tap water; an electronicindicator to show when the water filter needs replacing; a setting forbrewing three to five cups without diluting flavor and aroma; apermanent Gold Tone filter; automatic shutoff after brewing; anexternal water-level indicator; and concealed cord storage.
With a polished, extruded-aluminum body and plastic accents, themachine looks great on the counter. It measures 9-3/4 inches wide,13-3/4 inches high, and 10 inches deep, weighs 7 pounds, and carries aone-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

- So disappointed
We love the old Capresso coffee maker with milk frother. We have been using it at our weekend house for years. So when it was time for a new coffee pot for our apartment, I ordered this one without hesitation. What a disappointment. Enough water leaks out of the cup gauge to soak the counter top and the coffee is not as hot as the old machine. The instructions tell you not to use a paper filter if you use the gold basket. This resulted in a layer of silt in the bottom of my cup.My first ever ... - Extremely Disappointed-Don't Purchase this Coffeemaker
After using several different coffee makers over the years, I thought I had found one that would truly brew a great cup of coffee. It turns out, paying more for what you would expect (and probably heard) was a good brand, did NOT make a difference this time. The thermal carafe began leaking only 2 months after purchase. Now, 3 months later and only using the coffee maker on weekends, the coffee leaks around the lid of the carafe and I have to clean up the counter top every time I make coffee.I ... Best coffee pot we have had in many years. Using Starbucks Verona Blend and making to Starbucks brewing instructions, I was very satisfied.

- Pricey but Totally Worth It.
The title says it all. Pricey but Worth it. Sure you can buy a coffee maker for $25 but it won't make the coffee nearly hot enough to extract all the flavor out of your favorite coffee. The Capresso has a feature that can slow down the brewing process and make the coffee taste like coffee from your favorite coffee shop. It's easy to operate which is a plus as well. It should be marketed as the BMW or coffee makers.

- Takes getting used to
Brews too fast and makes the coffee weak even if I use a finer grind and more coffee.I had to plug two of the three holes that lets the water out of the top and use MORE coffee to be able to get a full bodied cup of coffee.I do like the temperature much better than other coffee makers.I wish I did not have to use so much more coffee to get the taste I like
