Amazon.com Review:
No salt or ice are needed to create 1 quart of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, or frozen drinks at home with this ice-cream maker. Just turning thecrank occasionally for 15 or 20 minutes is all it takes. The unit's freezer bowlgoes into a refrigerator's freezer for about 7 hours to freeze the liquidbetween its walls. The bowl then goes into the outer case, the paddle goes intothe bowl, ingredients go into the bowl, the transparent top is locked in place, and the crank is turned. The aluminum bowl cleans easily, the outer case and topare plastic so they wipe clean. The unit measures 9-1/2 inches high and 8 inchesin diameter (not including handle). It carries a 10-year warranty againstdefects. An instruction booklet containing many recipes is included. --FredBrack

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Homemade Ice Cream Fast
I bought this when I really wanted one of the big hand crank ice cream makers. Since, at the time, I could not find one, I bought this to tide me over. It is a great little machine. There is no ice & salt mess, the ice cream can be made indoors and it takes less than 30 minutes depending on the ice cream recipe you use. We like to surf the web for them or make up our own.

It's also nice that it is so small. One quart is enough for us for at least 2 desserts for everyone in the family. ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice unit, but overpriced
I get nearly a quart of ice cream from it, and it makes very good ice cream - smooth and not at all mushy or melted. Some users comment that it doesn't get cold enough to make decent ice cream. In that case, I'd guess their freezer is not cold enough and therefore the maker's freezing unit is not cold enough (if store bought ice cream isn't almost hard as a rock in your freezer, your freezer isn't cold enough). However, at $59, it's ridiculously expensive. (I got mine for $2 at a yard sale). It's worth ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Just buy it....
I just made a batch of (fresh) raspberry-banana-walnut ice cream. Raspberries were on sale at the supermarket and I got inspired. It took a few minutes after I got home to blend the mixture, put it in the refrigerator to get cold and do some other things. Then, dinner. After dinner, I poured the mixture into the prefrozen tub, stirred immediately (the first few minutes, you have to stir pretty often, or things will jam up), then every minute or two, while I read the newspaper.

The ice cream ... Read More

Well, blow me down, the Donvier Ice Cream Maker really works, *lol*

Having recently been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, I had to change my eating habits drastically... and quickly. Which meant, I had to change my cooking habits as well. Not wanting to give up my sweet-tooth, I bought a sugar-free Ice-Cream at the market. Needless to say, it tasted like... well, you'll just have to imagine what expletive I'd like to write here! The decision was obvious. Like everything else I was having to ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Decent ice cream, but oh, the time!
We bought this one a while back and decided to try it out a few months back.I'm now on the market for a new one, preferably an electric one.And NOT because of the hand-cranking.Why, then, you ask?Because the frozen-bowl method doesn't seem to work for us. Unless it was a symptom of leaving it sitting in the box for too long, then trying to use it... well.... let's start from the beginning, shall we?We took it out the day before we wanted to make ice cream and put the metal bowl in the freezer to ...
